On Communication

I don't often talk about my college experience, but something that I was truly grateful for was the feminist students' hard work around creating a fun and safe campus hook-up culture. It's always good to remind hormone-fueled 18-year-olds that communication and consent are the most important factors to a fun experience. Hey, the brochure does say something about a well-rounded education, whatever that means...

I welcome and encourage open and honest communication from my friends. Communication is especially pertinent when we're looking to explore kinky realms. I make sure to discuss needs, goals, and wants, and devote time to boundary negotiation and aftercare. Safe, sane, and consensual.

Of course, open communication does not mean explicit messages that rather remind one of a restaurant menu. When talking to an escort, it's crucial to be cognizant that the person on the other side of the screen is, well, a person, rather than a list of acronyms. Not only is it disrespectful, it is quite unsafe given the current political climate.

I prefer to let things happen organically. Remember, communication does not have to be verbal, although verbal communication is important. Let's initiate kisses, pull ourselves closer to one another, let our hands and imagination roam, and enjoy the moment. Trust me, it'll be more fun than "do you do ARGAFWEROIADLK?" I like it that way.
